How To Get the Most out of Your MFR Sessions (Part 1)

You've made the decision to go forward with receiving MFR treatments. Congratulations! Now, since I know you are ready to feel better and start the path of healing, here's a few tips to collapse time and speed up the process.

  1. Commit to regular treatment

I offer my recommendation for amount of treatment based on my observations after our first session together. I know for a lot of people this can seem like a lot at first, but the reason I recommend the level of treatment that I do is so that you can see the best results with the least amount of overall sessions. Less time between sessions means your body has less time to go back to the old holding patterns. Following the treatment plan allows MFR to interrupt the old patterns that were keeping you stuck and in pain.

I want you to know: if you do have to spread out treatments farther apart than I recommend, we will get there eventually. Some is always better than none. Yes, we'll get there faster when you see me more often, but we WILL still make progress at a slower pace. I stand by my recommendation AND you'll still get there if you have to go slower to make it sustainable for you.

  2. Grow your awareness of your body

My clients who have the best results are often the people who have more body awareness. When MFR takes time, people with awareness are more likely to feel that it is helpful before the big changes show up. Feeling what is working in your body is so helpful in sticking with the work and not losing heart if it takes time. To this end, I encourage everyone to fill out the check in forms I email out before each session. That makes it easy for me to record your progress and point out how far you've come. It can be helpful to track your symptoms daily (could be a simple note in your phone), and ask the people around you what they've noticed (spouses might notice better sleep, less snoring, less irritability, less often mentions of pain, etc). Also, this body scan exercise can help bring awareness to your body: https://youtu.be/8qaZqEGNcVc?si=dD0mzNJ3Ya60NEbu

  3. Communicate

If I say or do something you don't like or want, let me know! I understand that everyone is different, and something that worked for someone else might not work for you--so let me know! If you think of something between sessions, feel free to shoot me an email. Also, there is a spot for feedback on the forms I send out before each session. Take time to make a note of things that worked AND things that didn't.

Ask questions! If you're quiet in a session, a lot of times I want to let you just experience what you are experiencing, and I'll say less. It is good to be in the moment. It is also good to have enough explanation that you can trust the process. Let me know either way if you need more silence or more explanation!
